These beliefs will mess up your life and your relationships. They will steal your joy, crush your peace, and plant seeds of bitterness in your heart. Don’t let them!
Life isn’t fair. Why should it be? We each have been given the circumstances God deems necessary to transform us into the image of His Son—if we will cooperate with Him.
Hard is hard. It *feels* bad. But since when is living by our feelings helpful, wise, or productive? (Ever see a toddler have a meltdown…?)
When in life do we get everything we want? Would that even be good for us? In case you’re wondering, NO! Only God truly knows what we need, and sometimes we need to be told “No.” Hard will make us better if we let it. (Ever sharpen a knife or sand down a table…? If knives and tables could talk, they would probably prefer not to be sharpened or sanded. However, a dull knife is useless and can even be dangerous. A “raw” wooden table would cause injury and accidents. )
I could go on and on, but you get the idea. We have a choice in each and every situation and circumstance. Will we choose to cooperate with God? Or will we serve our own fleshy desires and, by doing so, cooperate with our enemy?
One path leads to Life Abundant. The other leads to death, destruction, deception, division, discouragement, and missing out on all the good God has for us.
The better path won’t necessarily *feel* good. That doesn’t mean it isn’t good….As we learn to live more and more in cooperation with God, our circumstances may not change, but we certainly will! (As will our perspectives of our suffering, pain, and sadness.)
We model for others how to live. What are you modeling for your kids? The goal is not perfection, just dependence on Jesus that leads to peace, JoY, HoPe, confidence and indescribable sweetness.Life is Hard, BUT GOD is Good—and We Always Have Reasons to Praise & Honor Him.
